REPORT: Caravan and Cabin trip to Marysville – March 2026
Only a short journey from Ringwood, our time in Marysville was blessed with fantastic autumn weather. Thirty three club members enjoyed several days of Fun, Friendship and Fellowship.
Fun started on the Sunday, the main check-in day, with a picnic lunch in Gallipoli Park where we were joined by a few other club members who came to Marysville just for the day and the picnic. Our traditional picnic game of Finska was won decisively by new member Wendy Collier.
Happy Hour each evening was a highlight, being able to sit outside and socialize with our large circle of friends.
Sunday evening, was a short stroll to the nearby hotel, The Duck Inn for dinner.
Monday started with a very informative talk by Bronwyn at the Information Centre. It was interesting to hear from so many of our members who had a past connection to Marysville. Bronwyn also guided us to Brunos Gallery owned by a local and somewhat eccentric artist with a very interesting collection of his weird and wonderful sculptures and other artwork.
After lunch at the Bakery, the Art Group, probably inspired by Bruno, got out their art equipment and enjoyed a session sitting by the river.
Caravan and Cabin group committee together with other volunteers got together Monday evening to prepare a wonderful meal based on a sausage sizzle.
This was followed by the first ever performance by the Clocktower Bush Wackers who managed to get most in attendance singing along to well known Aussie Songs. The performance also included some good Aussie poetry. Thanks go to the Bush Wackers – Lori, Barb, Ginny, Glenda and Herb.
Tuesday started with a visit to Stephenson Falls followed by a drive to Lake Mountain for another picnic. Only problem here was the sighting of a couple snakes as well as many warning signs about snakes. We didn’t hang around once we finished lunch. In the afternoon, a visit to the Historical Society for a little more background and history about Marysville.
Wednesday was check out day and return home for most. Some called into the Buxton Fish Farm for a spot of fishing where you cannot help but catch enthusiastic trout that just want to jump straight onto your hook.
Overall, a very enjoyable few days of fun and friendship. Thanks to all those that attended.

A pleasant 3 hour drive from Croydon is the lovely township of Echuca.
The caravan and camping committee have chosen as the destination for our November venture:

The park is a 5 minute walk to the Port of Echuca.
The park is a lovely facility with great amenities, good drive through van sites, reverse in ensuite sites and a good range of cabins.
The dates are 22nd to 25th November for cabin sites and I have reserved van sites from the 19th to the 25th November as quite often our caravanners go for a longer period. Of course you can choose the dates that suit you.
The Ringwood Clocktower Probus booking number to quota is 302087. Quote this when you book. Also quote your Big4, RACV or NRMA member number to get a 10% discount.

There are many activities to be found in Echuca/Moama and we will be planning our adventures around these many great things to do. We are also looking at a paddle steamer trip along the mighty Murray River.
