We meet at the Croydon Library, Glenn Frost Room, on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

AUGUST
The group works hard to find the elusive family members at our Genie Meetings.
August Meeting:

All members are welcome to join us, and of course a Probus helping hand is offered.
 
SEPTEMBER
September Meeting:
DATE:            Thursday 17th September
TIME:             1:00pm to 4:00 pm
VENUE:         Glenn Frost Room, Croydon Library
ADDRESS:    Civic Square Croydon, VIC 3136. 
As usual our group will be working towards a mysterious missing ancestor on our family trees.You are welcome to join us at The Glenn Frost Room, Croydon Library, and look for your own missing ancestor.
 
OCTOBER – Special Trip
Our October meeting, 15th October, is a Day Outing to the Melbourne General Cemetery.
Going into Melbourne by train, then tram to the cemetery.
Lunch at The Clyde Hotel in Carlton. 
Cost $8.00 for tour, travel and lunch at own cost.
 
Some information about the Melbourne Cemetery.
The Cemetery was first established in 1852.
The First Victorian cemetery designed as a large public park.
In 2023 horticultural work started aimed at enhancing the natural landscape of the historical cemetery sites.
A tour has been organised with a charge of $8.00 for a senior, numbers limited to 35 people.
Included in the grounds are the Prime Minister Memorial Garden, Burke and Wills Memorial and an Elvis Memorial.
This day will require some walking, going into Melbourne by train and using trams also. Full information will be in the September Newsletter.
But we are limited to 35 people.
The group has been helping some of our new members with their family search, and if you would also like to look for that long lost relative come and join us.

If you would like to explore a branch of your family or find more information about people on an existing family tree, you might like to join the Genie Group. At the Glenn Frost Room at Croydon Library, (Melway Page 50 5K) we have free access to programs such as Ancestry and Findmypast, which contain lots of information that was not available even 10 years ago.

New members are always welcome to come along for some assistance, share your family stories and enjoy afternoon tea and a chat.
