A funny and poignant play by the author of Another Time, the Dresser and Interpreters

Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred live in a home for retired opera singers in Kent England. Each year on the 10th October, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday.   Jean, a major star in her day and to whom Reginald was once unhappily married, arrives at the home and upsets the equilibrium by acting like a diva and refusing to sing. Is there any chance that these four will ever sing together again? Nevertheless, the show must go on!

Saturday 1st June – “THE WISDOM OF EVE

Adapted from the story by Mary Orr, on which the film “All About Eve” (Academy Award-wining Best Picture 1951) and the Hit Musical were based. An engrossing and revealing “inside” story of life in New York’s theatre world, told in terms of unscrupulous ingenue, Eve Harrington, as she lies, cheats and blackmails her way to Broadway stardom and a Hollywood career.

Saturday 31st August – “PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK

Many will know this story from Peter Weir’s classic film of the novel, which was released  in 1975.The play is adapted by Tom Wright from  Joan Lindsay’s novel, is narrated by five performers, “five Australian women”, who are named in the published script after the actors who played them in the first production. They are struggling to solve the mystery of Joan Lindsay’s original novel, which presents itself as the true story of the disappearance of three schoolgirls and their teacher, who inexplicably vanish into the mountainside whilst on a picnic expedition to Hanging Rock on Valentine’s day in 1900.

Euphoria and terror reverberate throughout the community, as the potential for history to repeat itself becomes nightmarishly real.
